Beth Pemberton-Hill, from Cleankill Pest Control, has been named Best Young Pest Controller at the prestigious National Pest Awards 2026.
The award recognises the contribution of young pest controllers to the industry, with judges looking particularly for individuals committed to developing their skills and knowledge and continuing to learn.

Paul Bates joined Cleankill in 1997 after a 16-year career with Rentokil where he progressed from technician to sales, service and branch management. Cleankill was founded with a clear aim: to provide high-quality pest control delivered by well-trained, motivated staff who genuinely care about customers. Falconry team member, Denis Beach, is soaring to new heights!
Denis Beach, a key member of the Cleankill Pest Control Falconry team, has passed his Level 2 Pest Control Exam. This exam involves a written and practical assessment covering pest biology.
Denis previously spent many years working on dredgers out at sea, but was very happy to get his feet back on dry land so he could spend more quality time with his children. Three years ago, he got into pest control and took to it like a duck to water - especially the falconry side.

Yellow Swarming Flies
Like cluster flies, Yellow Swarming Flies (Thaumatomyia notata) are normally active in places where lights are left on all the time. This population was found in an unused room in a block of flats in Haywards Heath. These pests look for places with nooks and crannies to overwinter so it’s best to get on top of the problem before winter. In this case, there were lots of dead flies in the light fittings which could cause a fire risk if not removed.
